Nicest Thing My Brother's Ever Done

A few of the things pictured here belonged to my grandmother. All the linens, the glass bowl, the jewelry. The box in the back was a Christmas gift from my brother and sister-in-law. After my grandmother passed away my sister-in-laws family bought her house. On the property was my Pappy's garage. The garage was in terrible disrepair and they had to tear it down. The garage meant a lot to me, and I was really sad. For Christmas my brother and sister-in-law surprised me with this box. It's hand made from boards from the garage, yes I cried!! Here is another pic. It's so primitive but very pretty. I may paint it white some day but for now, it will stay the original.

I couldn't wait to show everyone what I found yesterday!!!!! My mom calls me from our local thrift store and says you can get a trash bag full of items for $5.00!!! We did even better we split the bag so all this for $2.50!!! We also threw in some clothes but they're not listed.
1 bed ruffle (trim for towels)
1 gold valance
1 curtain that matched my ones on my window (for pillows)
Pink fabric
Pink potholder

1 cream and white damask curtain panel
1 brown skirt (for winter pillows)
5 sheer panels
A hankerchief
And a partridge in a pear tree! Not really but that's the longest post ever!!!

I can't wait to begin on projects!

  1. How lovely of your brother to make that box from your grandfather's garage -- now that is a treasure indeed!

And wow ... all that "loot" for 2.50 -- you did very well. Love old linens and fabrics. Well, I love anything old just about!
