Coverlet

I found this great coverlet in an add in a local paper. I was intrigued by the add. I called and went to look at it. It was beautiful!!! It was practically brand new. I paid a lot more than I usually do for something like this. It was $25.00. It was pricey but so pretty!!! I threw it on my bed with a few white pillows to give you an idea of what it will look like this summer.
It looks so fluffy!! I can't wait for summer!!!

Happy White Wednesday!!

Cornice Before & After

I'm a little...OK a lot ashamed to tell this story!! It's horrible!! My daughter has been waiting since July for me to start on her room. She took her birthday money and bought a comforter, pillows, and accessories so I would redo her room in JULY. Oh, it's February? Where has the time gone??? This is one of those terrible mom moments!!! I FINALLY BEGAN!!! YAY!!! She was offered a new bed and we've began a redo on it (can't wait for you to see it)!! This is a cornice...a dreary boring $3.00 yard sale cornice.

I convinced her to purchase this lovely roll of wrapping paper. Can you believe this was Christmas paper....it's beautiful! We bought it half off at Hobby Lobby for $4.00. Expensive yes....but the graphic is perfect!

I took white glue spread it all over the cornice then just applied the paper. It did wrinkle in spots but, I used what I had. I don't think anyone will notice.
Here is the after!!! I can't believe how well it turned out. It looks so updated for nearly no money.....my kind of project.
I still need to rib border off, paint, rearrange furniture, finish her bed, make a bulletin board.......

Hmmm, I think I've figured out why I hadn't started before now!!! Ha ha! I'm going to get busy and hopefully share ALL the before & afters of this room!!!!
Wish me luck!!!

Antique Frame

Here is my lovely frame with plastic artificial flowers!!!! Ewwwwwww......I guess it was someones art project. I did love the frame. It came from the flea market for $8.00. I ripped everything apart and threw a vintage print inside. The print cost $3.00.
I still need to cut a piece of glass. I have the glass but, with the weather trips to the building are non existent!!!

For the grand total of $11.00. I have a 25 x 29 piece of artwork! Thanks for stopping by!!

Finials

I've had a pair of finials for....ever!!! I put them out on occasion but, didn't really think they were all that special. I bought the pair at a Carolina Pottery store for .99 each!! I LOVED that store...it was so great!!!
Anyway.....here is the before.... and the after.
I took another page of sheet music, ripped it into pieces, and glued piece after piece to the bottom.I did take some watered down burnt umber craft paint and brush it over the paper to tone it down a bit.

A quick and easy before & after!!!!

Lamp Shade Redo #2

Here is a lovely lamp I purchased at Rose's for $15.00. I did buy 2 so I would have a matching set. I painted the base white but, wasn't quite sure what to do about the shade. This is my shabby version.....I wanted to incorporate the pink and white. The lamp shade was too pretty to throw it out.
I wasn't happy but thought it would suit the purpose until something better came along.

Here is the second after. It looks so much better with my cherub lamp. I went to Hobby Lobby and bought the ribbon on a roll. It's so cute it's velvet and little ruffles!!!! I placed the ribbon trim on all of the existing seams of the shade. The ribbon trim was on sale for 1/2 price. I also added the large trim at the bottom. It was on clearance for @ $1.17 a yard!!

I redid 3 shades for nearly nothing. Now all three of my cherub lamps have coordinating shades!

Before & After & After

This is my lamp. I've posted about this lamp before. It was a gift from a dear, sweet friend. She told me the shade was not original to the lamp (which I took to mean I had permission to change it). The shape and size were perfect for the lamp. Which brings me to after #1. I did attempt to change the shade. I liked the pattern on the shade but even after I had finished with it....I wasn't really happy with it. Better, but not there yet. Something was not right!
Which brings me to After #2. Much better. I did have issues with this project. I purchased scrap booking paper from Hobby Lobby. I brought it home and wanted to just glue it straight to the shade. Well, it didn't exactly work. The shade is not exactly round. Which left me with a cone shape. I did have to sit and think about what I was going to do!!!

I finally figured out I could cut strips of paper and layer one on top of the other! I think it worked out really well. The paper matches the base perfectly!!! An updated version of an antique lamp for 59cents. Not bad!!! The scrap booking papers were 1/2 off and I used white glue to attach the strips!!!!

Not a bad project....the second time around!
