Been Busy.....Painting!

This is a cabinet that currently resides in my kitchen. It belonged to my grandmother and I wasn't sure what to do with it. Once I brought it in and placed it, it's been useful to store linens. Extra comforters, blankets, etc.
It's been this color since probably before I was born. It took a while before I made the decision to paint.
I'm glad now that I did. It looks amazing in white.
We've been going to cookouts, putting hay up, and I started working out.....needless to say busy is an understatement!! Hopefully I'll get things lined out soon, finish projects and show "the real" afters!!!
Happy Memorial Day everyone!!!

New Coat of Paint

I had...or have 3-5 gallon buckets of paint stored in my in laws basement. I thought I had 3 buckets of exterior paint.....wrong!!! I had by hubby bring one home and it is interior. I opened it up not knowing what to expect. I got this creamy yellow. Is it pretty? Yes, for someone else. It needs to go. I actually began putting it on this little set of shelves. Here are the shelves. I've had these for at least 10 years. They were $10. at a yard sale. I actually dug them out of a building to sell. All the pieces didn't exactly come together until yesterday.
I found the other panel that belongs on the back and opted for white instead. It does look better (although it got too hot to finish).

I think it would look great placed on top of something and make a potting bench out of it. Pots would fit perfectly on these narrow shelves. That's the plan as of now anyway!
Have a great holiday weekend!

Laundry Area Redo

Please join Cindy @ My Romantic Home for Show and Tell Friday!
A $1.00 yard sale find got the wheels turning! I had picked up pictures a couple of months ago and decided I wanted my laundry area to have a beach theme. I'm ONLY 8hrs from the beach so.......let's just say we don't get there often.
These are the pictures I got for $1.00. The large jar was my grandmothers and the sign was a Marshall's clearance special for $2.00. Isn't it funny how I had no intention of putting them together but they all match......go figure! OOOOHHH! I just fell in love with these! I bought them for $1.99 each! They're tin and sooooo dreamy!
I've been waiting to put this apothecary jar here. You'll have to excuse the basket on the wall I ran out of white paint (I know how could I EVER let that happen)!

I was too ashamed to post what it looked like before...........just imagine the computer area....again!
This is the after. I love how fresh everything looks together.

Is it perfect??? No, but neither am I. I plan on putting up a wall someday. The laundry area is IN my kitchen. Do I like it....no. That's a story for another day. At least I've made progress in another area.
Now......

100,000 more areas to go.
Does that give me permission for more yard sales?????
I think so too.....just mention you agree to my husband.....lol!

Projects!!!

I thought I took before pics of these frames. One had a terrible print in it. They were on clearance for $2.00 each. I took the prints out, painted the frames, then placed photographs in them! $1.99 with 40% off. A whopping $1.19. I covered it with some scrap booking paper from a few weeks ago.
The wreath was free. My mom and grandmother made it for me years ago (it's very special).

I've spruced it up a bit with the S. I stole..or borrowed the idea from another blogger. I'm sorry but I don't remember who it was. I also added the white ribbon. I think I need to rearrange it.

Here is my .50 pot. I placed some Spanish moss in and added the bird. I may paint it white too......I haven't decided yet.

It's Black & White

This is my candleholder before......(still not believing $2.99)........ and the after! I love this candleholder.

I finally took the plastic off my lamp shades....tee hee! The color is brighter now (imagine that)! They also have a larger ruffle on the bottom than what I had thought!

I think I've found the perfect spot! I'll have to look for candles that actually match, I think they look like cotton candy!

Have a great day!!

Ego Boost

Nothing like watching an episode of Hoarders to make you feel better about yourself!! Ha Ha! I've not gotten to any projects today. I had a friend call last week and come by for a visit. Needless to say you can see the floor now!! Yay! Hallway.....wow, there is a table there!
Other misc. spots which are generally covered...........do exist!

You can actually sit ON the couch.

I sure wish I was neat and organized and didn't have to freak out when someone stops by. I just don't think I was made that way (or I would stop shopping...yeah right)! Well, off to clean!

Thrift Store Bliss!!!

OK I have 2 finds of the day. I actually found these trees a couple of weeks ago and wouldn't pay $15.00 for them. I really wanted them though. Went by yesterday and they were still at the same yard sale for $10.00. I've wanted a set of these for a long time and here they are!! At the same yard sale I bought this ajustable wreath stand for $1.00.

Dollar Tree tags and you'll have to wait and see what happens with these!

Love a good thrift store. The pot was $1.00 and the tray was .50.

I'm loving this basket. It's metal and I'm sure it's old. $2.00.

My second find of the day......

Are you ready?

I was in the Salvation Army thrift store and had looked at most everything.

I was looking at things on shelves when I looked down and there was this beauty!!!!

Of course I checked the tag (before getting too excited). $2.99! Can you believe it 3 bucks for this!!! It's huge! My mom was with me and sad that she didn't get to it first....sorry!

Well, today is a day for more projects. Hopefully I'll get a few things accomplished!

I'm Apologizing Now

I'm apologizing now for what you are about to see! Prom pictures are in and I'm in love with them!!!! You need to hear a little background before I begin. My oldest daughter is definitely a tom boy. She hunts and fishes. She's taking auto mechanics in school the next school term to work on her car. Let's just say dresses are "not for her"!! Well, she was invited to prom by her friend. You've been hearing me talk about my friend Kelli. My daughter insisted I get her to take prom pics. Well here they are:

Alex kissing my other daughter Myleigh (a mother doesn't see that as much as she would like)!

She only wore the boots for pictures but aren't they great props?

She and her friend David.

When I look at these........tears.
She's really growing up!

Here she is with her pride and joy....her car. I still think she looks like she's modeling the dress!

Thanks for letting me brag a bit! Kelli and the Outlaw Photography Studio did a fantastic job. My daughter's beautiful all the time but, sometimes she takes my breath away!
I'm joining Marla @Always Nesting for Woo Hoo Wednesday!
This is definitely a Woo Hoo moment!
I'm also joining Faded Charm for White Wednesday!

I Heart Hobby Lobby!

When Kelli and I went shopping, we went to Hobby Lobby to pick up frames. You know me.....let's go to the clearance section first!! Well, I'm thinking I should have kept quiet because I found things for ME!! I KNOW!! How can you help it? I found this cloche for $5.00. Couldn't pass that up! I've had this poor bird who's cracked and has a chipped wing. It was 10 cents at a yard sale way back.

Here they are together on a $3.00 desert dish from Home Goods (it's on a pedestal should have taken a better angle).

I found these great hooks. I've always liked birds but even more so now for some reason.

They're so pretty.

I also found this little canvas for $2.00. I couldn't pass it up either. It fits perfectly with my pink walls.

Those were my finds of the day. I'm wanting to go thrift store shopping.

Kelli's Studio

I wanted to share a few of the projects I've been working on in my friend Kelli's photography studio. I don't know if you remember the planter I bought for 50 cents? Well, here was my idea for it. I broke off a few of these branches (off a fallen tree). The cost for that free. I finally got the tags right!!! Metal....free. I already had the ribbon, Spanish moss, and the tiny clothes pins I used to hold the photos in place. Nice display for 50 cents!!!Can you imagine eggs and Easter pics in Spring? Or Christmas ornaments and Santa pics in winter?? Possibilities are endless! I'm liking the tags now. They add a lot of color to the top of the piece.

I brought out this birdcage and added some spring berries, the birds nest and one of the prom photos of my daughter.

We added a 16 x 20 over the table for a larger display.

I'm so excited for her studio to be ready. She has taken beautiful photos and I was thrilled to help out!

You Win Some, You Lose Some

OK, I did try! I thought these tags would be really cute.....they're not! Rather ugly actually. I should get an A for effort anyway. These on the other hand turned out great! I took some of my leftover scrap booking paper and put it inside the box. Then I hot glued the keys onto the paper! Super easy (after I found the keys)!!
Here is the 2ND box.

Thought I would sneak my favorite picture in. It's of my grandparents. I love, love, love, the color in this photograph. I'm also using my boxes I found in storage!

Well, it's raining and nasty out today. Hubby and I need to try to fix the dryer or figure out what's wrong with it (yuck)! After that let's go find more projects!!

New Projects or Finish Old Ones?

I really wanted a new project for today. Then I started thinking about ALL the existing ones I had going.
I was thinking about painting these white. Here is a piece of metal I found. I wanted to make garden tags with it, although it's sat in my living room floor for a week now!
Here are some glass bottles I wanted to make labels for............hint, hint (I need instructions)!

I bought these frames several years ago and brought them back out. I thought about putting keys inside but, couldn't find the keys..............until this morning .................grrrrr!

Here is some scrapbooking paper I bought at Michaels. I'm not able to go there very often so, I'm going to have to pace myself and use it wisely!
No need to be in a hurry.

Here is the biggest project of all! This poor cabinet! I've also had it for several years and for some reason only has a coat of paint on the front.....lol. I'm waiting for a nice day so I can kick everyone out of the house (the smell of primer) and finish it. I also began on the crown moulding and measured it wrong (let's just say not happy). Now that I've calmed down (and don't feel the need to throw it across the room, I do have the red-headed temper) I have a new plan and need to finish that.
Whew! I'm tired. I've already been to church, getting ready to post this, I'll be fixing lunch here in a few minutes. Hmmm I'll have to check out other blogs (to make sure I'm not missing anything), if someone calls I'll have to talk (can't ignore someone...that's just rude), well, I am kind of sleepy a short nap wouldn't hurt....right?
And I wonder why I can't get things done!!!
